Established in 1997, Korean Student Union in University of Washington is an cultural awareness student organization affiliated with ASUW (The Associated Students of the University of Washington).
KSU participates in various activities within the University as well as Korean community in Washington State.
The organization currently represents more than 450 students at University of Washington and consists of a large number of alumnus.

KSU Tradition
KSU holds a number of events that take place each year that provided fun, competition and cultural awareness.
- “Shin – to – bul – ee” (Freshmen Social)
This is a fun, active social event where incoming freshmen and upperclassmen come together for the first time. It is held in the beginning of the year for KSU members to bond by playing unity games and to provide opportunity for the freshmen to adjust to the university life by making new friends.
- “Overnight” Talent show
In 2007, it will be our 6th annual event, Overnight is one of KSU’s biggest events of the year. This special talent show draws more than 500 audiences from all over the Northwestern region and to win this competition, the participant must twist comical humor to their performances. Many students UW and neighboring universities compete expressing their talents from singing to comical dancing.
- Korean Culture Night
This event is held with other Korean organizations in University of Washington every year. Culture Night focuses on various themes from Korean folktales to food in order to spread and take time to appreciate Korean culture. Also Keynote speakers are invited to share their experiences and thoughts as Korean Americans.
